*CLOSED* Spooktacular Giveaway Hop: Win One of These Spooky Books! (US only, 2 winners, ends 10/31)

Hey slackers, welcome to the Spooktacular Giveaway Hop, hosted by I Am A Reader, Not a Writer and The Diary of a Bookworm. This is a huuuge giveaway hop- I'm somewhere around #334 on a list of 425. So, congrats on making it here if you started from the top of the list! You're probably kind of worn out, so I'll get down to business. I'm a big fan of the horror genre, and I've picked a few great (and spooky) reads out of my personal collection to give away to some lucky readers. Each title links to the book's Amazon page, so check that out if you want more info about any of them. If you want to see the many other blogs who are participating in this hop, there is a linky at the bottom of this post.

First, I have a hard cover copy of the Scary Stories Treasury by Alvin Schwartz, illustrated by Stephen Gammell. This very gently used book is appropriate for ages 9 and up, and contains all three of Scwartz's best selling scary story collections. Let me tell you, these stories used to freak me out when I was a kid- I think the warped illustrations had a lot to do with that. None of the stories are too gory or terrifying, but they're definitely creepy.
Next up, I have The Dead That Walk edited by Stephen Jones. This is a collection of short stories about- you guessed it- zombies. There are 24 short stories in the books, and from what I remember, some of them are quite good. Authors include Clive Barker, Stephen King, H.P. Lovecraft, Joe Hill, and Richard Matheson. The book is a gently used paperback copy- it has a few dog eared pages, but that's about it.
I also have this Mass Market Paperback copy of Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. This one's more mystery than horror, but it's pretty creepy. I liked this book a lot, although I was a bit disappointed by the movie. Lots of twists, turns, thrills, and chills. The front cover on this copy has a few creases and the corners are a bit worn.

This is So Close the Hand of Death by J.T. Ellison, and my paperback copy is an uncorrected proof. It's in pretty good shape. To be honest, I don't remember much about this thriller. It's about an FBI agent who is trying to hunt down a serial killer called the Pretender, who likes to imitate famous murderers such as the Boston Strangler, the Zodiac Killer, and Son of Sam. The Chicago Tribune recommends this book for "fans of intelligently written, intricately crafted thrillers."

Blind Spot by Nancy Bush is another thriller that I have no recollection of, but it looks appropriate for this giveaway. According to Publisher's Weekly, Blind Spot is "an eerie suspense novel woven with a compelling romance... the terrifying denouement will have readers riveted." This copy is a gently used mass market paperback.

Do all of those other books sound super tame to you? Maybe you'd like Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk. This is a novel made up of 23 "horrifying, hilarious, and stomach-churning stories." I must stress that this is not a book for the faint of heart or the easily offended.  One of these stories, "Guts," managed to gross me out pretty badly, and that's not an easy task. According to popular legend, loads of people passed out when Palahniuk read it aloud during a book tour. Nevertheless, I liked this book more than most other Palahniuk's novels. It has a neat glow in the dark cover, too! This copy is a gently used paperback

So, here's how this is gonna work. I will be picking two random winners at the end of this giveaway, and each winner will receive one of these six books. You will receive your first choice, unless you are the second winner and the first winner chose the book you wanted. In that case, you will receive your second choice. This giveaway is open only to US Residents ages 18+.  I will email the winner- either add luckyjd2k@gmail.com to your address book or make sure to check your spam folder after the giveaway ends so that you don't miss out!
